My Philosophy of Care

“Nutrition is one of the many ways to show love and respect for ourselves”

About Me & My Practice

My choice to become a dietitian was greatly influenced by my sister's eating disorder when we were teenagers then my personal nature led me to specialize in human physiology. I started studying childhood obesity in Mexico in 2004. Since then, realizes how important it is to personalize a nutrition therapy and show respect for all body types. Despite my academic preparation, I realized that in the real world people live is completely different, there is a strong therapeutic stigma towards fat people and since 2019 i change my vision and my therapeutic paths with a HAES approach. I try to keep patients safe, not only since they arrive in the studio, I try to build a network with specialist doctors, their psychotherapists and family. Alone you don't go anywhere. I am strongly convinced that ideas, habits and respect can be contagious so I try to use neutral and non-judgmental language even in my everyday life, with my family and friends. In family, we try to respect individual hunger and satiety, at table we vary and try to maintain a Mediterranean style without demonizing food, we have fun cooking times and even our cats are free to eat. In my free time I love reading and embroidering, I adore long walks, bike rides and visiting the traditional italian markets.

Accessibility Considerations

In the studio we have everything needed for fat people even a scale where people in wheelchairs can be weighed (if necessary). My consultancy is divided into three parts, we evaluate lifestyle in general, metabolic health and lastly the anthropometric evaluation which we need to understand over the time how the body reacts to changes in lifestyle and habits. The goal is to change a few habits at a time, always trying to show respect for the body and its physiology and trying to recreate programs suitable for each person, like a tailor who designs a suit to measure.
