My Philosophy of Care

I believe that all bodies are worthy of compassionate care and nourishment. I also believe health is wildly complex and that nutrition is deeply nuanced. My approach is gentle, thoughtful, holistic, and very individualized. My approach is also consent-oriented, and involves me asking more questions than it does me making recommendations or offering advice. Incorporating client's personal values into our work is often a part of my process, if a client feels interested and comfortable doing this. To me, being a HAES provider means making well-being support as accessible as possible for all. Human-inclusive care is important to me because I believe in human worth, and justice/liberation for all bodies. Although not always possible, I find it can be very beneficial to collaborate with a client’s care team, as applicable/appropriate/consented to. In addition to being trauma-informed, I also have a moderate understanding of many therapeutic modalities.

About Me & My Practice

I'm Amanda – radical dietitian with a zeal for helping others develop more peaceful relationships with food and their bodies. Passionate about food for as long as I can remember, pursuing a degree in Dietetics was a pretty natural path for me to embark on post high school. It wasn’t until I had been working as a clinician in the wellness world for over almost 15 years, whilst navigating my own disordered eating struggles, that I discovered HAES and Intuitive Eating. Since that time, and over the past 5 years, I have shifted to practicing solely from a HAES-informed lens, and strive to maintain a welcoming space for people of all ethnicities, documentation status, faiths, abilities, races, and genders. I’ve cultivated broad experience working with LGBTQIA+ folks, transgender and nonbinary folks, BIPOC folks, Latine folks, neurodivergent individuals, people in active eating disorder recovery, and many folks who identify as fat (small, mid, and large). I myself am white, straight, small-sized, able-bodied, educated, married, cis-gender female. A particular area of interest for me is the intersection of disordered eating and religious trauma. I am a sunshine enthusiast, and very devoted kitty mum to Ralph Luis (Ralphie). When I'm not channeling my energy into body liberation work, you might find me reading, traveling/making travel plans, or spending time outdoors. I enjoy cooking, especially when I'm tapping into my Sicilian roots.

Accessibility Considerations

I work solo virtually -- if there are technological requests, I'm more than willing to look into & honor those (example, CC; speak via phone using audio without video, utilize a preferred platform from the client's end, etc). I can also offer payments plans.
