My Philosophy of Care

I follow weight inclusive care and HAES principles. I support my clients with compassion and understanding how trauma and stigma affects people. I believe that people are free of deciding how they want to live their lives and I will support them through their journey. I believe that the HAES approach gives providers as well as clients an approach free of bias and stigma, acknowledging that each person is free of deciding how they treat their body. I practice away from “healthism”. I have learned from advocacy groups how impactful is weight stigma and fatphobia for people that live in bigger bodies and the importance as a health care professional of advocate for my clients

About Me & My Practice

I have 25 years experience in dietetics and in the last 5 years I have shifted my way of delivering care and philosophy that it is aligned with HAES and weight inclusivity approaches. I had to work on my personal biases and stigmas to support my clients. Has been a difficult road acknowledging the harm that I was causing to my clients. I love the outdoors, reading and spend time with my family. I support parents with children with Eating Disorders by volunteering in peer support groups. This volunteering support came from my family history of Eating Disorders where I had to support 2 children with Eating Disorders, I decided during those terrible years that I’d my children get into recovery I will put my time to support parents that are struggling with children with ED as a peer support
