My Philosophy of Care
My Practice is person centered first and foremost. I believe each client is the expert on their own lived experience and as therapist we are there to help guide and explore with them.
I work from the IFS model which utilizes a trauma informed and autonomous framework. I supervise all of the therapists in my practice to ensure all of our clients are receiving compassionate and curious based care.
Stark Therapy Group's Values are based in inclusive care. All of our therapists are fat positive, LGBTQIA+ allied and social justice oriented.
As specialists in treating those with eating disorders, disordered eating and body image concerns, it is imperative that all our therapists work from a HAES perspective. While safety is earned, we will strive to create a space that is trauma informed and harm reduced.
Our therapists are from diverse backgrounds and hold multiple intersecting identities.
About Me & My Practice
I created Stark Therapy Group in 2020 after being in private practice for 5 years. I wanted to expand my reach and be able to serve more individuals and families.
I have always valued teaching and supervising the therapists in my practice has been and incredible addition to my clinical work.
I have been in the field since 2009 and been working clinically since 2013. I have worked for major corporations and hospitals and ultimately landed in private practice in 2015.
I have two master's degrees ( MSc in social psychology from University of Sussex; and MSSW in Adv. Clinical Practice from Columbia School of Social Work). I am Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, hold a Level 1 EMDR certification and have had many years of supervision and courses/workshop trainings in IFS.
I formally learned about HAES in 2014 after I quit working at a treatment center due to disagreeing with a lot of the clinical decisions being made. At the time I didn't know the name, nor the extent of fatphobia or the major role it played in the eating disorder world.
It wasn't until 2017 that I more fully learned and unlearned about anti- fatness and, in term fat positivity. As someone with thin privilege, I will never stop my learning and unlearning.
Accessibility Considerations
Most of our services on virtual to grant as much access as possible.
Our office in Tustin is not wheelchair nor mobile impaired accessible as it is on the second floor of an old build with no elevator. This is an issue we are in the process of trying to fix.
