My Philosophy of Care
My practice focuses on the development of a program designed to empower individuals to make sustainable lifestyle changes that support their health and well-being, regardless of their body size or shape. My practice also emphasizes social justice and equity (taking into account frameworks like HAES), and fat liberation, recognizing that systemic oppression and discrimination can impact health outcomes and access to healthcare.
This approach promote a holistic and compassionate approach to health that prioritizes self-care, self-acceptance, and individual agency.
About Me & My Practice
The practice that I have been doing since the year I graduated has been inclusive of weight. I am a fat person who has recovered from an eating disorder, so I understand what it means to navigate a weight-biased world. Activists, professionals, and people within the HAES movement have given me a framework for action to lessen the harm and stigma. It means a safe place of resistance and struggle.
Currently, I work in private practice, but I also have a scientific career, I have published articles and book chapters. I am in the process of admission to the PhD in Health Psychology
The HAES framework will continue to guide my scientific practice.
I love coffee, cats, movies and dancing.
