My Philosophy of Care

As a Health at Every Size (HAES) mental health counselor, my primary focus is on helping clients improve their overall well-being and mental health, rather than solely focusing on weight loss or body size. This means that I prioritize self-acceptance, self-care, and intuitive eating rather than dieting and weight loss as the primary goals of treatment. I practice from a HAES perspective because I believe in the importance of body positivity, inclusivity, and respect for all body sizes and shapes. This approach aligns with my core values of promoting self-acceptance and self-compassion, and encourages clients to engage in behaviors that support their overall well-being and mental health without being constrained by societal expectations of what their bodies "should" look like. For me, HAES care is important because it challenges the harmful and pervasive cultural messages that equate thinness with health and happiness. This approach recognizes that health is complex and multifaceted and that every individual deserves respect and care regardless of their body size or shape. As a mental health counselor, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where my clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make choices that align with their values and promote their overall well-being.

About Me & My Practice

Hanna (she/her) is a licensed therapist specializing in working with individuals who identify as neurodivergent, those who have experienced complex trauma, those struggling with diet culture, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. She uses internal family systems and attachment theory as a base for understanding how we make sense of our own experiences and how we relate to others. Additionally, she offers TFCBT therapy (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to address trauma, anxiety and negative thought patterns for clients 7-18 and caregivers who have experienced or witnessed traumatic events.

Accessibility Considerations

As a telehealth provider, I can ensure that the website and digital platforms are designed with accessibility in mind, including features such as high contrast and clear text for patients with visual impairments.
