My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is to approach each patient with empathy and respect. I believe in a collaborative and individualized approach, tailoring therapy to meet the specific needs and goals of each patient. My theoretical frameworks include Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, and Emotionally Focused Therapies. I also incorporate a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and social justice oriented therapeutic approach. I adhere to the Health at Every Size® perspective, which means that I reject weight-centric approaches to health and instead focus on supporting patients in cultivating positive relationships with their bodies. I believe that all bodies are deserving of care and respect and see the immense harm that diet-culture, anti-fat bias, and healthism cause. I work to dismantle these systemic forms of discrimination in both my professional and personal life.

About Me & My Practice

I am Isabelle Vrod, LMSW, and I specialize in working with neurodivergent individuals and couples. I received my Masters in Social Work from NYU Silver and have been practicing from a Health at Every Size® lens since the beginning of my studies in 2019. I also have training in the relationship between neurodivergence, trauma, food, and the body and support the The Neurodiversity Affirming Model of care. My passion for this work stems from my personal experience with diet culture and the harm it can cause. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space for all individuals, regardless of their ability, size, race, gender identity, or sexual orientation. I am deeply committed to social justice and strive to use my platform to advocate for those more impacted by medical anti-fat bias.

Accessibility Considerations

As a provider currently working virtually, I prioritize accessibility considerations such as neurodiversity, gender affirming practices, and other accommodations. I work to ensure that my virtual platform is accessible and user-friendly for all clients, including those who may have sensory sensitivities or require alternative communication methods.
