My Philosophy of Care
I am a creative by heart, and a counselor by trade. It is my pleasure to hold space for people as they seek to get to know themselves better and learn how to best solve their own problems. I am a firm believer that deep down, people know what is right for them, and they know how to solve their own problems. My job as a counselor is to help you remove the layers of cultural conditioning, negative self-talk, trauma memories, and more to help you get reconnected with your self. My goal is to stand beside you as we examine barriers, explore possibilities, and help you find your inner strength to fight any battles that come your way.
About Me & My Practice
I am a mental health counselor licensed in Washington and Maine. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Plymouth State University and am currently a PhD student in Counselor Education and Supervision at Saybrook University. Previously, I worked as the Integrated Arts School Counselor at Milan Elementary School in Milan, New Hampshire where I also taught art and music. My life has always been a mixed bag of the arts. My parents met in a traveling music group and I grew up loving music, art, dance, theater, and poetry. I am passionate about the opportunity to use these creative outlets as avenues for healing that are accessible to everyone. I specialize in adult trauma work using talk therapy integrated with expressive arts, mindfulness, and somatic eye movement based therapy. I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Accelerated Reprocessing Therapy (ART), and Expressive Art Therapy (EXA). I use a mixture of these techniques to help people find healing, especially those who have struggled to find relief with standard talk therapy methods.
As a trauma victim myself, I am passionate about helping others heal. I specialize in working with those who have struggled with religious trauma related to sexual abuse, purity culture, and patriarchal body shaming.
Accessibility Considerations
I offer fully virtual counseling. Accessible video conferencing programs are available that accommodate most disabilities. If you have specific concerns, please reach out and I will offer any and all accommodations I am able to.
