My Philosophy of Care

My core approach is person centered with a foundation of Intersectional Feminist Theory, mindfulness, humanistic theory and relational therapy. I tend to pull from many different areas of psychology to create a tailored plan for each of my clients. Additionally, I bring cultural context and generational trauma into session, i.e. examining how our environment impacts our mental health. I am a Certified Intuitive Counselor which allows me to specialize in body image, eating disorders and disordered relationships with food and movement. I value humanity and use my humor, love of Tik Tok and high energy to connect with my clients. Vulnerability is a cornerstone of my work with my clients as well as empowering people to advocate for their needs.

About Me & My Practice

I came to work as a therapist through genuine curiosity when exploring my own experiences. I grew up in a fat body and struggled with restriction and yo yo dieting. Throughout this journey I found myself leaning towards body acceptance. When I started to learn that anti fatness's foundation was steeped in racism and classism I began to lean more towards activism. I have been doing this work for 5 years but have become or concentrated in advocacy during the past two years. I became a certified intuitive eating counselor, which facilitated my journey. I advocate for HAES by supporting my clients in boundary setting and processing fat trauma and I provide consultation to other therapists! I am the owner of Intuitive Growth Counseling, starting this practice is one of my passion projects. Currently, I have a body acceptance instagram, a mental health Tik Tok and provide education in anti-fat bias. I love going for walks, nature, spending time with my children/ Husband, reading, watching the Great British Bake Off and connecting with other therapists. I am passionate about Health at Every Size and working with women to advocate for themselves. I have suffered with body image and restriction my entire life and have a special love for helping people reconnect and value their bodies. Fat positivity is important to me as I believe we need to celebrate all body types. I value being an empath and enjoy working with people on creating healthy boundaries as a highly sensitive person.
