My Philosophy of Care

I believe healing happens through connection. Connection with others. Connection through food, music, and emotions. Connection with sacred, younger, old, scared, and excited parts of ourselves. I view the world through an intersectional lens. While I believe healing can happen from within, I also believe there are systems in place that contribute to illness and impact our ability to access care, food, and safety. If you are looking for a space to practice vulnerability, unlearn internalized narratives that continue to harm you, and rebuild your relationship with all parts of yourself, this is the place to be.

About Me & My Practice

There are many parts of me that make me, me. Besides being a bilingual clinical mental health counselor, I am a parent, a partner, a student, and an educator. I love humor, Colombian food, learning about cultures, and animals (for those interested, we already have a bird, three cats, and four dogs in our home- I know, what a furry home!). Of Colombian roots, I immigrated to the United States in my teens. My interest in mental health comes from my personal experience with trauma, acculturation stress, disordered eating, and identity development. Growing up in an environment where stigma and misinformation related to mental illness, identities, and health were salient, I ventured into the counseling and psychology world in the hope of unlearning, connecting, and holding space with others…. and here I am!

Accessibility Considerations

Cafecito Counseling only offers virtual services at this moment. Reliable internet access is needed for sessions. I speak English and Spanish.
