My Philosophy of Care
I work from a body diversity, weight-inclusive, anti-weight-stigma and anti-diet perspective. My practice develops throught conversations guided by dialogic practices that promote horizontality, autonomy and agency on the part of the consultants, so that, at all times, the priority is for each person to have sovereignty over their own body.
My approach to health is multifactorial, based on social determinants and informed by trauma. In my practice, the notion of health is constructed together with each client and, based on this, we establish the approach and objectives. In essence, I advocate for a practice in which every decision is made up together with the clients.
About Me & My Practice
I have always been a thin woman and lived for 10 years with an eating disorder. My interest in working with HAES came from the experience of my mother who at different times in her life has been fat. I also grew up with my sister who at a very young age suffered from medical fatphobia and this was crucial in triggering an eating disorder that lasted for several years. I grew up seeing my privilege in comparison to my sister and this raised many questions about the violence that fat people experience around their bodies.
For the last 6 years I have been working with a HAES approach and my doctoral research focused on co-constructing a nutritional practice with/for with fat people. Nowadays, I work hand in hand with activists (some of them superfat) to challenge medical fatphobia practices.
I have been trained in eating disorders, intuitive eating, relational constructionist and dialogical practices, enneagram, coaching, and I have a PhD in psychology where I worked hand in hand with fat women and men who taught me a lot from their experiences.
