My Philosophy of Care
My approach to care is person-centred, collaborative, and based on trust and respect. As a weight-inclusive physiotherapist, my philosophy of care is rooted in the Health at Every Size® principles. I believe that every person, regardless of their body size, deserves to receive respectful, equitable, accessible and evidence-based care.
I believe a person's body weight does not determine their health status or personal worth, and I reject harmful and stigmatizing beliefs that suggest otherwise. My goal is to encourage body respect and positivity, empowering my patients to develop positive relationships with their bodies. I acknowledge that my patients come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and I aim to create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels heard and valued.
About Me & My Practice
I have been practising from a Health at Every Size® lens since 2021. Through the lives and stories of fat folks, I have learnt the harmful and traumatising experiences they have had with our Western Medical model. I have spent the last few years advocating for their health, mainly through my fat patients seeking IVF treatment.
I work in both the public and private sectors.
- Senior Physiotherapist, CAMHS Eating Disorders Service, Perth Children’s Hospital, WA
- Founder & Director, Movement Physio Perth, WA
I have completed specialised training in mental health and eating disorders, including evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy for eating disorders, family-based therapy, and motivational interviewing. I am also a certified Level 1 Sports Trainer, Accredited Mental Health First Aider, and certified in Acupuncture and Dry Needling.
