My Philosophy of Care

As a nutrition and movement coach, I view humans holistically. We are all (myself included) so much more than our visible bodies - we are a beautiful mixture of thoughts, feelings, experiences, and actions, living in incredibly adaptable physical forms. We each have unique circumstances that affect how we view and care for our bodies. With these truths in mind, I serve and support clients and the general public through the body liberation and HAES lenses. In practice, this looks like full client autonomy throughout the coaching process. All recommendations are made with consideration of your past and current needs, and presented as options, not prescriptions. Your living situation, size and abilities, mental/emotional stressors, access to resources, and concerns about me based on past experiences with health professionals are all factors I consider. In our work together, you are the architect. I simply create a space where you build skills and collect tools that help you care for your body and mind effectively now and for years to come.

About Me & My Practice

I came into this work very gradually and it did not come easy - in fact, I started my master's program thinking it would be the missing info I needed to fully control my body size (yikes). Over time I realized that constantly restricting was keeping me from living a full life. From there, I dove into the research around weight and health, fully adopting a HAES® approach in my business about 3 years ago. Certifications: SITA's Size Inclusive Personal Trainer certification Lift Off Fitness' Inclusive Kettlebell Coach Level 1 (Level 2 this summer) Hope Ignited's Trauma-Informed Personal Training Board-Certified Clinical Nutritionist through the American Nutrition Association In practice, I've worked with a range of fat folks as nutrition and movement clients (including superfat) in the past 2 years. I've also worked with Angel Austin (Sacred Space for Fat Bodies) to expand the inclusivity of my movement offers to have fully seated (and in the future, bed-based!) programs. In 1:1 client work, I often assist in preparing for or debriefing from medical office visits where weight and/or distressing diagnoses are discussed. I'll fully admit I struggle - Bri Campos coined the term "body grief" and it feels like the perfect term. And in holding space for folks of all sizes to reconnect with and respect their bodies, I find myself healing more each day. Lately, this looks like hiking (with a dog or husband in tow), preferably somewhere other than Texas.
