My Philosophy of Care

My goal is for each client to feel welcome and safe. Sessions can be focused on pain relief, relaxation, or a combination. Being a Health at Every Size provider means that this space is welcoming, accessible, safe, and free of any judgement. It means that you are welcome here and your comfort, safety, and pain relief are my primary goals. It means that you can co-create your session and that I listen to you and respect your choices and preferences. I am a massage therapist, which means that I work on muscles, skin, and connective tissue. I sometimes offer stretches during the session if that would be helpful to the overall situation. I may offer suggestions for ergonomics at a desk or other work station or stretches if that would help you meet your overall goals. I don't offer any other health suggestions to my clients as that is out of my scope of practice. I respect you and your health journey, and am honored to be a part of it.

About Me & My Practice

Prior to being a massage therapist, I worked with children, families, and then seniors as a case manager at a nonprofit social service agency. I deeply enjoyed meeting people in their homes and getting to know them. Having the honor and ability to visit people in their personal environment showed me that we all have so much in common, regardless of what our individual experiences may be. Our hearts want to be cared for and accepted, we want to feel safe, and we want to have hope for the future. I have two children, currently 20 and 22 years old. My children deal with fatphobia and have encountered situations where spaces/experiences are simply not designed with them in mind. Chairs, entrances, kayaks - it is my goal to ensure that, at least in areas where I have influence like my office, every person feels welcome.

Accessibility Considerations

There is a street parking spot in front of the office. The driveway is sloped up toward the gate entrance to the side yard. The office is not wheelchair accessible due to a concrete step from the driveway to the side yard and due to two steps up into the home (where the bathroom is located) from the massage room. There are no grab rails in the bathroom and it is not wheelchair accessible. The chair in the massage room has a weight limit of 500lbs and has no arms. The massage table has a weight limit of 500lbs. Clients wear their choice of clothing and may disrobe to their comfort level. The new client packet is sent ahead and will be brought to the first appointment. Health discussions are limited to those things which may affect massage techniques such as blood pressure, diabetes, neuropathy, skin conditions, medications including any topically applied medications or injections, pain medications, etc.
