My Philosophy of Care
I am inspired by many ways of conceptualizing clients and the human experience, including; Intuitive Eating (IE), Health at Every Size® (HAES®), Somatic Experiencing (SE), the Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Polyvagal Theory, Relational Therapy, and Existential Psychotherapy. As a registered Yoga Teacher (RYT), the mindfulness and somatic elements of my practice have further supported me in understanding the multifaceted nature of the human experience. I enjoy helping client’s increase awareness of their emotional, cognitive, and somatic responses, while prompting compassion and acceptance. I prompt exploration of the function of these responses and how they inform us of our values and impact our social engagement. I enjoy using psychoeducation, mindfulness exercises, interoceptive awareness, bilateral stimulation, exposures, social engagement, distress tolerance skills, parts-work, and values clarification to support my clients in learning to support themselves.
About Me & My Practice
I am a warm and accepting therapist who supports clients in acknowledging their experiences. I have an engaging and relational focus in order to communicate the value I see in my clients and validate their experiences. Through collaboration with my clients, I create and monitor treatment objectives and goals. I encourage clients to explore their somatic, emotional, or cognitive processes. I hold space for them to acknowledge their hardest moments and empathize with them about these inevitable struggles; while maintaining awareness of the possibility that lighter emotions, like humor, curiosity, and creativity, can be present at the same time. I strive to support my clients in accepting and enjoying their multifaceted and meaningful lives.
Accessibility Considerations
My office in on the second floor so it is not wheelchair accessible, so I offer Telehealth services as needed. My office furniture is chosen with consideration for people of all body sizes and accomodations are consistently made to help people create the environment that is most comfortable for them ( ie: rearranging pillows, dimming lights, moving coffee table, etc.)
