My Philosophy of Care
I use Health at Every Size® as a framework for health and wellness. I believe that health and wellness are not a moral obligation, and that each individual gets to choose how they want to engage or not engage. Further, I believe in the importance of naming and exploring systems of oppression that impact one's ability to move through the world. Through unpacking the impact of these systems, we are eventually able to make decisions based on our wants and needs, rather than "shoulds" from society.
Through the lens of Embodied Recovery for Eating Disorders, healing and recovery are an additive process. We benefit through adding in tools and resources, rather than trying to “stop” behaviors or thoughts. In fact, our behaviors and thoughts are wise and we can learn a lot through listening to them with compassionate curiosity.
I’m also a somatically integrated practitioner and view the body as a resource to healing. I support my clients in embodiment and nervous system regulation through interventions like breath work, grounding, orienting, and tracking, in order to work towards relative safety and connectedness.

About Me & My Practice
I started my career as a fitness professional through my love for movement. Along the way, I started to notice the exclusive nature of fitness and wellness spaces, as well as the negative impact of diet culture.
In 2017, I was introduced to Health at Every Size®. My world completely changed. I now had language and research that backed up what I had been feeling for years. This was while I was studying to become a Mental Health Therapist, and became very interested in working with disordered eating and disordered exercise.
In a world with so much anti-fat bias, I believe in the importance of sharing space with other's who are actively divesting from diet culture. Therefore, I opened a mission-driven wellness center with my partner in 2019, called Current Wellness, which integrates physical and mental health. We offer fitness, yoga, and dance classes that focus on celebrating our bodies, rather than trying to change them. We also offer appointment based services that are size-inclusive and aligned with inclusive wellness.
While I'm not working, I love exploring Raleigh, NC through food, music, and culture with my partner.
