My Philosophy of Care
My approach is nonjudgmental and deeply compassionate. I respect the ways your body, nervous system, narratives, and emotional life have made sense of the world and your place in it. I listen, explore, question, and support you in reconnecting with yourself, your wisdom, and joy.
I hold space for the ways in which larger systems and oppression affect us and seek to understand your experiences, strengths, values and challenges knowing that you are the expert on your life. I believe that we find healing and resilience in connection; therapy might be one part of that, and healing also often happens in groups, in our families, and in our communities. I strive to provide anti-oppression mental health care by engaging in ongoing learning and consultation.
Health at Every Size® care has been transformational for me personally and I am privileged and honored to provide care that is explicitly fat positive and aligned with the Health at Every Size® framework of care. I recognize the intersectionality of all the identities we embody. I seek to identify and challenge beliefs that are rooted in anti-Blackness, anti-fatness, misogyny, and ableism while meeting you where you are with compassion and curiosity. I often work with folks who feel disconnected from their bodies and explore how that may be protective while supporting ways to reconnect with the physical body. Healing can take many forms and I want to understand what it looks like for you.

About Me & My Practice
I’m a white, fat, queer, currently able bodied, cis woman and like many others, came to work from a Health at Every Size® perspective through my own personal journey. My early career was in nonprofit reproductive rights and then I thought I’d become a midwife, but I quickly realized that I preferred talking to people than dealing with bodily fluids! That led to a clinical social work degree and many years of family therapy with parents and youth in a community mental health setting. Now I work in private practice with adults who are struggling with challenges of mood, anxiety, adjustment, body changes, identity and role transitions related to reproductive health, birth, loss, and parenting. Weight stigma intersects in so many ways with these issues, that as I’ve grown in my understanding of and personal experience with fat liberation, it’s been a natural progression for me to center more of my clinical work in fat liberation. I also consider it a central part of my supervision practice to be encouraging anti-oppression and fat-positive clinical practice with the associate therapists I supervise.
I am also a parent. For me, parenting has been a humbling exercise in patience, connection, sleep deprivation, failure, laughter, and remembering I can only be "good enough," as well as profound grief. Raising a child in a fat-phobic world is challenging, AND centering anti-oppression and fat liberation in my parenting is inspiring!

Accessibility Considerations
My practice is small, so the only person you'll interact with is me. Most of my services are offered over zoom; you'll need a good internet connection and a place that provides some privacy. I can often help troubleshoot barriers, but if we can't make it work, I'll strive to connect you to a provider who might be able to offer in-person services.
For my in-person services: My office is in an ADA accessible building. The waiting room and my individual office have various seating options (with and without arms) and can accommodate weights up to 1000lb. Bathrooms are gendered, both men and women's room include changing tables. I can use interpreters by phone or video as needed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about accessibility - I will make every effort to identify alternatives or accommodations to make my services accessible to you.
