My Philosophy of Care
I use a blend of evidence-based approaches to help people break free from binge eating disorder, emotional eating, and body image iconcerns. I also specialize in anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
As a HAES®-aligned therapist, I support body diversity. I acknowledge the structural forces that impinge on the wellbeing of my clients and help them navigate those systems. I approach clients from a weight-inclusive, evidence-based approach called Intuitive Eating (IE).
Your struggles with body image and food are not your fault. You learned and internalized messages about what your body should look like from society. With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I can help you critically examine and shift your beliefs about your body and worth.
Another approach I use is Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). It combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to build emotional resilience. Many research studies have demonstrated that people who use MSC experience less shame and more self-confidence. These skills can help you face the difficult emotions that come up as you find your way to self-acceptance.
Additionally, I teach skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you identify and honor your authentic values.

About Me & My Practice
I know it’s possible to pivot from a life that’s ruled by fear, insecurity, and anxiety, to a life attuned with your authentic values, passions, and priorities because I’ve done it myself and have helped many clients do the same. When I started practicing as a psychologist I found it very gratifying to see evidence-based approaches produce results in weeks or months, rather than years, for people struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and OCD. In the decade since, I have helped hundreds of people feel better by using these techniques.
Despite my educational and professional achievements, I struggled with binge eating disorder and negative body image throughout my twenties. It drained me, and caused me so much suffering and shame, until I discovered Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size®. Applying these approaches changed my life in the best possible way. It gave me back energy that I now direct to what fills me with purpose and joy: helping others flourish.
Because I’ve been in therapy myself, I know how scary and vulnerable it can feel to start working with a new provider. I offer a free 20-minute consultation so we can see if we're a good fit. To learn more about me, visit www.compasscbt.com.

Accessibility Considerations
Because my practice is virtual, if you are located anywhere in California, Florida, or New York, distance is no longer a barrier to accessing evidence-based care.
