My Philosophy of Care

Every body is a good body. Diet culture is destructive to well-being and silences our innate body wisdom. Body liberationist therapy roots out diet culture while finding your innate body wisdom and turning up the volume. My feminist, social justice, and body liberation approach to HAES® also acknowledges how body size interacts with race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability. We are all of our identities and experiences at one time. Combining HAES® with feminism and social justice provides a place for you to take up all of the room you need to take up! There is room for all of you.

About Me & My Practice

I received a Bachelor of Arts from Agnes Scott College in psychology and women’s studies and a Master of Science in mental health counseling from Georgia State University. I have completed extensive training in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. I have been practicing HAES for over a decade. Fat folks are my people and are honestly my favorite clients. I love being able to provide the high quality, laboratory care that I have myself had to search very hard for as a fat person. My clinical work, publications, presentations, and research interests focus on gender, sexuality, fat liberation, trauma, and recognizing the mind-body competence minoritized groups are required to develop. I always work from a HAES, body liberationist, trauma informed, and feminist lens.

Accessibility Considerations

All of my sessions are online. I work with my clients to make sure they are able to join our telehealth sessions from a private setting that is comfortable for them. I see people of all sexualities and genders. You will not have to educate me on queer, trans, non-monogamous, or kink topics or nuances.
