My Philosophy of Care
I am a anti-diet, weight-inclusive, Health and Every Size® provider dedicated to taking down diet culture and dismantling oppression in all forms. I help people get off the diet train, and move toward body neutrality, body acceptance, or body liberation, depending on your goals and hopes. I respect and honor where you are in your journey toward body liberation. I am an open, kind, dedicated provider with a lot of knowledge and understanding around how white supremacy and our diet and weight-obsessed culture have created fatphobia and fat oppression, and the many ways this oppression impacts people of all sizes. I celebrate size diversity, and diversity of all types. As a Health at Every Size® Provider, I believe in body autonomy-that you are the expert and authority of your body, and your experiences. I am receptive and welcoming of feedback, and in my role as a therapist, I believe you and your experiences. Clients see me as a warm, inclusive, accepting, empathic therapist, who is dedicated to the clients I serve. I use many different types of therapy modalities, but strive to do what works, in collaboration with clients.
About Me & My Practice
I am a seasoned clinician with over 15 years experience in helping clients achieve their goals. My clients see me as someone who is caring, calm, empathic, and someone who truly cares and goes the extra mile. I work hard to create a safe, trusting space where you can share freely. I am a down-to-earth therapist with a toolbox full of skills and techniques to help you feel hope, approach life struggles skillfully, and remove obstacles in your way toward living the life you want.
I learned about HAES® in the last few years, and since then, so much has changed in my personal and professional life and I have taken many trainings around HAES®. (Shout out to Christy Harrison of Food Psych podcast who has taught me so much!)
I am here to help you feel understood, accepted and seen, experience empathy and compassion in a warm judgment-free atmosphere, and build a toolkit of coping skills you can use to handle life’s trials and tribulations. In this uncertain world, we need connection with others more than ever. We can’t do this life alone, and I am here to support you, and walk alongside you with your worries, sadness, and self-doubt, as you find your way toward hope and healing.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you with whatever you are going through. I will do my absolute best to assist you toward achieving your goals. You don’t have to go through this alone. I love my job as a therapist, enjoy doing yoga, enjoy reading and puzzles and love animals!
Accessibility Considerations
I see folks virtually in NY and RI so you can connect from the comfort of your own space. I have an office in Newport, RI that is not wheelchair accessible, and located on the 2nd floor of a building with no elevator. There is a waiting room that does not have size-inclusive chairs. There is a bathroom. The chairs in my office are up to 300 lbs.
