My Philosophy of Care

My main goal in working with clients is helping them adjust the lens that they see their body in and ultimately it would be great for them to accept their body as it is currently. It's not always easy to get there, and is often very uncomfortable. I like to sit with my clients in that moment, and find ways to be able to be "okay" with being uncomfortable.

I also spend a lot of time building up my clients, and focusing on how amazing they are, just as they are in this present moment. Helping my clients realize their potential, and value, regardless of how the world views their body is rewarding to me.

About Me & My Practice

Hello, friend! My name is Alyssa, and I have been "fat" since I was 8yrs old, and introduced to the most amazing vegetable there is... the potato. That means yes, I was fat through elementary school, middle school, and high school. I've been the fat girl, fat friend, the fat girlfriend, the fat cheerleader you name it.

When I was 19yrs old I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), and a little light switch went off in my head... I realized, hey maybe I am not just a lazy potato lover (ok, low-key a little bit..). Once I graduated college, and started practicing therapy I knew that I really wanted to work with anyone who struggled with body image, whether weight related or not. Especially those women who have been diagnosed with PCOS, and not only have to deal with infertility, etc, but can't lose weight to save their life. I immediately amerced myself in every training I could find, read books, and listened to podcasts. I wanted to be the first "helping" profession to not care about your BMI, not ask you about your diet, and never utter the words "if you'd just lose a little bit of weight you'd be fine".

I advocate against fat-phobia, and am extremely passionate about body diversity in the fitness/wellness industry.

Accessibility Considerations

I am always available to meet virtually in your safe space.

If you prefer in office, my office is located on a lower level, but does have both stairs and an elevator for access. You'll be welcomed by a friendly receptionist, who will get you situated. Our lower level waiting room has a loveseat, as well as individual armless chairs. Seating in my office is a plush loveseat, and I have all the pillows and blankets you can hide your body behind.
