My Philosophy of Care
As a weight inclusive, fat-positive dietitian I do not believe in diets- not only because they don't work (check the research!) but they are harmful. I practice from a HAES® lens because I have seen firsthand what dieting and the pursuit of thinness can do and cause, and this is not the definition of health. I work with clients to define their own version of health based on their values and outside of their weight. I have found that this leads to greater personal satisfaction and happiness. Plus I love giving a big FU to diet culture and the societal forces that tell us that we are not valid or worthy.
About Me & My Practice
I am a Registered Dietitian and Body Image Coach, certified in the Body Grievers Method (TM) by Body Image with Bri/Bri Campos. I came to this work through recovery with my own disordered relationship to food and my body, and learning about HAES® turned everything around. I am the owner of Happy Valley Nutrition, the Western Massachusetts' only group practice of weight inclusive, fat positive registered dietitians. We believe in providing an alternative narrative to the weight-centric medical system, advocating for our clients- especially people in marginalized bodies.
