My Philosophy of Care

My work is to help you feel free and connected in food, your body and in movement through a lens of body partnership. To get there, I focus on meeting you right where you are and seeing what avenues of healing are open to us. I'm anti-"should" and I don't push or force people to do movement or adopt behaviors that they're not feeling ready for. We kiss the edge of discomfort (when it's right) and build your window of tolerance to expand the amount of challenge you're able to meet. In short, we work together through every step to ease into shifts while work toward acceptance and compassion for the parts of you that stay.

About Me & My Practice

I'm Amy, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Somatic Stress Release™ Practitioner and NASM CPT/CES. Most of my clients are virtual, but I'm in the process of opening up for personal training/somatics in San Diego, CA, USA! I identify with misfits thanks to my personal experience as a neurodiverse person with clinical depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders and trauma. I've been stable in recovery on all of those fronts for years and years and have dedicated my practice to helping others through it, too. Intuitive Eating and HAES® helped set me free in eating disorder recovery and that's why they're pillars of my coaching framework now (going on 8 years as a HAES® devotee). I operate from a lens of body neutrality, fat liberation and intersectional feminism in my work, though it's important for me to acknowledge my own thin privilege. Accessibility Considerations

My work in movement is focused on accessibility for all bodies. When I work 1-on-1 with a client, I program and coach from what is welcome in their body. All bodies are welcome. I will never weigh you, take body size measurements or use skin calipers. In fact, I do not focus on weight loss at all in my practice and usually recommend that clients toss their scale at home as well.
