My Philosophy of Care
My philosophy of care is rooted in the belief that health is about far more than food or body size. I take a whole-person, evidence-informed approach that considers nutrition alongside stress, nervous system function, sleep, hormones, digestion, movement, and each person's unique lived experiences. I strive to create a compassionate, collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Rather than focusing on perfection, I help clients build realistic, sustainable habits that improve their health and quality of life.
Practicing from a Health at Every Size® perspective means recognizing that everyone deserves respectful, evidence-based healthcare, regardless of body size. I do not assume health can be measured by weight alone. Instead, I focus on health-promoting behaviors, symptom improvement, and helping clients reconnect with their bodies in a way that feels supportive rather than punitive. I also recognize the harmful effects of weight stigma and strive to provide care that reduces shame and honors each person's autonomy.
My recommendations are individualized, practical, and aligned with each client's goals and values. I integrate nutrition science with an understanding of how the nervous system influences physiology and behavior, while recognizing that health is shaped by many biological, psychological, and social factors. I welcome clients of all body sizes, genders, and identities, including cisgender women, transgender, and non-binary individuals.
About Me & My Practice
My own health journey showed me that conventional nutrition care often overlooks important factors that influence overall wellbeing. Even at a young age, I knew there was more to health than simply following the food pyramid.
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I pursued a more holistic path, completing a culinary certificate at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York and a Master of Science in Integrative Nutrition with a concentration in herbal medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.
As a Certified Nutrition Specialist® and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, I combine evidence-based nutrition with a root-cause, whole-person approach. Rather than focusing on weight or using the scale as a measure of success, I help clients identify and address factors such as hormone imbalances, gut health concerns, chronic inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction to improve how they feel and function.
I am especially passionate about supporting people through hormonal concerns, including infertility, PMOS, endometriosis, menopause, and postpartum mood disorders. My practice is trauma-informed, HAES-aligned, and LGBTQIA+-affirming. I believe everyone deserves compassionate, evidence-based care that respects their identity, autonomy, and lived experience.
Accessibility Considerations
My office is unfortunately not fully wheelchair accessible, but there is handicapped parking, a wheelchair-accessible entrance, and an elevator. The weight limit on seating in my office is 600 lbs. I am happy to offer interpretation services as needed for teleheath appointments.
