My Philosophy of Care
My philosophy of care is rooted in respect, autonomy, and collaboration. I believe every patient deserves care free from shame, coercion, or weight-based conditions. As a Health at Every Size® provider, I prioritize creating a space where people feel safe to share their stories, have their experiences believed, and participate fully in decisions about their care.
In practice, this looks like honoring patient autonomy, providing clear treatment options without weight loss attached, and adapting my approach to each person’s needs. I integrate East Asian medicine with a trauma-informed, weight-neutral lens to support fertility, reproductive health, anxiety, chronic illness, and aesthetics. I use inclusive intake paperwork, offer equipment and techniques suited for all bodies, and collaborate with other providers to ensure continuity of compassionate care.
Practicing from a HAES® perspective is vital because it shifts the focus from body size to wellbeing and access. To me, this means not only providing individualized treatments but also advocating within healthcare spaces for systemic change. My care is grounded in liberation frameworks, ongoing self-reflection, and the recognition that health is not a prerequisite for dignity or respect.

About Me & My Practice
I’m a queer, Puerto Rican and Irish-American acupuncturist who has been practicing from a weight-neutral and Health at Every Size® lens for over a decade. My work centers the needs of people in marginalized bodies and identities, with special focus on reproductive health, fertility, anxiety, chronic illness, and aesthetics (cosmetic acupuncture, Microneedling, Nano needling).
In my practice, I create a welcoming space by providing care without weight-based requirements, offering treatment options that don’t hinge on weight loss, and adapting equipment and techniques for larger bodies. I advocate for patients by documenting their needs clearly, challenging weight-based assumptions when they arise in care settings, and supporting people in building language for self-advocacy with other providers.
I continue to learn from leaders in fat liberation, disability justice, and racial equity, as well as directly from my patients’ lived experiences. Outside the clinic, I love biking by the lakefront with my partner, cooking for friends and family, and making ceramics. These practices keep me grounded and remind me that joy, movement, and connection are also essential parts of healing.

Accessibility Considerations
Lakeside Spine and Wellness offers a accessible parking, is wheelchair accessible and provides inclusive seating in the waiting room. My treatment room has a treatment table that can hold up to 1000lbs.
I offer a variety of treatment table props:
- Wedge cushion for sitting up at a 45 degree angle while on the treatment table.
- Bolsters with a variety of diameters to provide support to bodies of all sizes.
- Table extender that widens the surface area of my treatment table by an additional 8 inches.
I do not weigh my patients in my intake. My front desk staff is trained to be welcoming and inclusive of folks of all sizes.
