My Philosophy of Care

I work with individuals and couples who feel betrayed by their bodies or circumstances. There is deep grief when we lose control over what we wanted, be it shrinking, carrying, or conforming. This is the work I do: helping you make peace with yourself, so your body feels like home. As a fat therapist I am dedicated to serving people of every size. It has been my experience that often our bodies have experienced ridicule, shame, or trauma for simply existing. Because of this I am trained in and often use several trauma modalities that allow us to move beyond simply intellectualizing our pain. With a HAES lens, I mix curiosity and compassion as we create highly relational therapy tailored just for you.

About Me & My Practice

For the greater part of my life I struggled with eating disorders. As a woman with PCOS (PMOS) I was never able to shrink my body to industry standard, no matter how little I ate. After years of frustration I finally started woking with a clinician who used HAES methodology to help me find peace with my body... or so I thought. As my eating disorders began to calm I found a new reason to hate my body-- infertility. Then I finally got pregnant, only for me to lose my infant traumatically. More pregnancies, another loss. Through all of this I hashed over and over what it really meant to feel safe in a body that felt like it was constantly failing me. Now years later it is my honor to come full circle and sit with those who face similar feelings of body betrayal. Peace is possible, and I hope to help you find it. Part of my passion is not only working with clients of all sizes, but also advocating for them in the world of psychology. Unfortunately eating disorder care and even the education around eating disorders (or lack there of) is appalling for mental health professionals. I wrote my thesis on the inherent fatphobia in psychology and the far-reaching impact on our field. When I'm not sitting in the mud of feelings, I am sitting in the mud in my garden. Being a fat flower farmer is also its own thing!

Accessibility Considerations

My office is furnished with all weight inclusive (and comfortable!) seating. No size limit. I am neurodivergent friendly, focusing on soft textures, noise reduction, and a treasure trove of fidget toys. I am up stairs of a 100yr old building, and as of yet they do not have an elevator. I offer virtual sessions for anyone with mobility challenges, and weather dependent may be able to meet outside as well. I am committed to provide therapy to all identities, races, genders, and sizes.
