My Philosophy of Care

My approach is person-centered, evidence-based, and trauma-informed. This means that I will value patients lived experiences, encourage patients to be active participants in their treatment plan, and move at a pace that is guided by them. I recognise that there are emotional, social, and physical factors that affect our ability to sustain movement in the long term. I will work with your patients to understand these factors and move them toward their target health outcomes. Your Movement Space was created to be a safe harbor for all those who need it. I am aware of the impact of discrimination in health care, the barriers it creates, and its long-term impact on well-being. I strive to create a safe space where people from all walks of life can safely access life-enriching movement.

About Me & My Practice

I am an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer with over 8 years of experience in the fitness industry. My hobbies include being a rabbit mum, dying my hair in ridiculous colors, and growing my indoor plant jungle. I love teaching people how to nourish their bodies with movement while improving their long-term health. I have been passionately Health at Every Size aligned for 3 years. I came to this work through my own recovery journey. As such, I believe in a collaborative, fat-positive approach to eating disorder recovery. I am fiercely passionate about ending the medical injustice fat people face in our medical system. I try and do this through my work as a mentor to other exercise physiologists and my podcast (Into the red zone).

Accessibility Considerations

As a Size-Inclusive space, all exercise equipment in the space is supportive for bodies 300+ kg and has no arms on its side. Your Movement Space's main entrance is also via one flight of steps. If your body is not suited to this type of entrance a flat wheelchair access point is also available. We also have two sizes of blood pressure cuffs that suit all bodies. This ensures correct and comfortable readings during consults. Your Movement Space is located within Flourish Kirribilli. Flourish is a body-positive clinic space with two psychologists, a dietitian, and a GP working together. Everyone in the practice is HAES-aligned creating a safe environment for the clients coming in. There are no posters or signs anywhere with any fatphobic rhetoric or diet talk. During my consult, no one will be weighed or measured and BMI will not be discussed (as it's not evidence-based). At this stage, Your Movement Space doesn't have access to interpreters for languages outside of English.
