My Philosophy of Care
My philosophy of care is grounded in a trauma-informed, relational, and collaborative approach. I believe symptoms—whether related to eating disorders, OCD, or trauma—develop for meaningful reasons and deserve curiosity rather than judgment. I help clients understand connections between past experiences, internalized messages, and present patterns, while building flexibility, self-trust, and authenticity. I integrate CBT, DBT, ERP, I-CBT, EMDR, and IFS, tailoring care to each person. I view the therapeutic relationship as central to change and aim to create a space that is both supportive and appropriately challenging.
As a Health at Every Size® (HAES)-aligned provider, I practice weight-inclusive, anti-diet care that prioritizes well-being over weight. HAES recognizes that health is multifaceted and not defined by body size. I work to dismantle diet culture, support body trust, and help clients reconnect with internal cues. I use structured, evidence-based approaches while honoring each client’s lived experience. Practicing from a HAES framework is essential to me because it aligns with both research and ethics—supporting sustainable healing and reducing stigma.
About Me & My Practice
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Coastal Collaborative Care, where I specialize in eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, and trauma. I came to this work through early experience in eating disorder higher levels of care, where I saw how often individuals—especially those in larger bodies—were misunderstood or harmed by weight-centric models. That shaped my commitment to practicing from a Health at Every Size® (HAES) lens. I am a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Approved Consultant (CEDS-C) and have trained in CBT, DBT, ERP, I-CBT, EMDR, and IFS. I have worked across inpatient, PHP, IOP, and outpatient settings, and have been practicing from a HAES-aligned, weight-inclusive perspective for several years.
I advocate for clients impacted by medical fatphobia by challenging weight bias within care teams, supporting access to appropriate referrals, and educating families and providers on weight-inclusive care. Outside of work, I value connection, being near the water, and slowing down when I can. These values carry into my work—I believe healing is not just about symptom change, but building a life that feels sustainable, meaningful, and aligned.
Accessibility Considerations
My practice is outpatient psychotherapy, so sessions take place either virtually or in office settings designed to be comfortable and accessible. My office locations are elevator accessible. I do not require weigh-ins or track weight, and I do not use BMI to guide care. My approach is fully weight-inclusive, and I actively work to create an environment that is free from diet culture and weight stigma. Seating is selected with comfort and accessibility in mind, including options without arms and sturdy, supportive furniture. The artwork throughout my office is intentionally fat-positive and body-inclusive, reinforcing a space where all bodies are welcomed and affirmed.
For virtual sessions, clients are able to access care from their own environment, which can increase comfort and accessibility. I strive to create an affirming space for all identities, including gender-affirming and LGBTQ+ inclusive care. My goal is for all clients to feel respected, safe, and supported in accessing care.
