My Philosophy of Care

I am passionate about the Health At Every Size® philosophy and approach, and I'm a Certified Body Trust® Provider. My approach is rooted in respect for my clients' instinctive ways of surviving, while fostering a spirit of gentle, curious experimentation to find new, more sustainable ways to move forward.

If you've ever had your broken relationship with food/body dismissed, overlooked, minimized, or even encouraged, due to living in a larger body, there's a special place in my heart and in my practice for you. I might be a good fit for you if you are looking for a therapist who is down-to-earth, trauma-informed, and likes to use humor in our conversations. In our time together, I will thoughtfully integrate the approaches listed, in a way that is individually suited to your own needs, desires, and personality.

About Me & My Practice

My special focus is disordered eating, including binge eating disorder, bulimia, anorexia, body dissatisfaction, chronic dieting, intuitive eating, and orthorexia. I serve as the Clinical Director for Rock Recovery, a non-profit providing accessible disordered eating care. We offer individual and group therapy for VA, DC, and MD residents, as well as inclusive Christian support groups nationwide, to help people find freedom and healing in their relationship with food and their bodies. All our services are offered on a generous sliding scale, because we believe finances should never be a barrier to care.

Accessibility Considerations

Our offices are accessible by the DC Metro, Metro Bus, and Circulator. There is an elevator, and our office is wheelchair accessible. We do not provide medical care of any kind (no weigh-ins or taking vitals). We offer a variety of seating options at our offices, thoughtfully chosen to accommodate a variety of access needs, including higher weights. All staff, clinical and non-clinical, are trained by the Clinical Director on HAES® principles, and providing HAES®-aligned care and customer service. We also increase accessibility through offering virtual services and through our generous sliding scale.
