My Philosophy of Care

Jaclyn’s philosophy of care is grounded in Health at Every Size® (HAES®), trauma-informed practices, and a deep respect for body diversity and lived experience. She approaches her work with warmth, curiosity, and collaboration, helping clients explore their relationships with food, movement, and body image without judgment. As a Registered Dietitian specializing in eating disorders, Jaclyn integrates motivational interviewing, somatic strategies, and neurodivergent-affirming tools to support clients in reconnecting with internal cues and building self-trust. Practicing from a HAES® perspective, she rejects weight-centric approaches and instead focuses on individualized, sustainable behaviors that support whole-person well-being. Jaclyn works with a wide range of clients, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent individuals, and is committed to creating an inclusive and affirming environment where all bodies are valued and care is collaborative.

About Me & My Practice

Jaclyn’s path into nutrition counseling was shaped by a desire to challenge the harm she witnessed in weight-centric healthcare and to offer care that affirms all bodies—especially those most marginalized. With a background in higher levels of eating disorder care, Jaclyn has extensive experience supporting individuals of all body types in reclaiming their relationship with food, movement, and self-trust. Her work is informed by ongoing training in fat liberation, trauma-informed nutrition counseling, and the lived experiences of those impacted by systemic oppression. She actively works to dismantle internalized and institutional anti-fat bias through supervision, advocacy, and continued education.

As a fat-positive, HAES®-aligned provider, Jaclyn approaches care with cultural humility and curiosity. She believes that showing up authentically is part of the healing process, and she brings that energy into her work. Outside of sessions, she finds joy in neighborhood walks, exploring local coffee and thrift shops, and watching psychological thrillers with her partner. She shares her home (and frequent Zoom screen) with her cat Buki, who’s known to make the occasional cameo during sessions.

Accessibility Considerations

Jaclyn provides virtual nutrition counseling through Nutrition Counseling Center (NCC), a practice committed to inclusive, weight-neutral care. Virtual sessions allow clients to access support from a space that feels comfortable and accessible to them, with flexibility around movement, seating, and communication preferences. For those seeking in-person services, NCC offers fat-inclusive options such as armless seating and appropriately sized equipment when applicable.

While NCC generally avoids weight-based goals, weigh-ins may be clinically indicated depending on acuity, particularly in higher-risk eating disorder cases. In these situations, Jaclyn approaches weight monitoring with full transparency, collaboration, and consent, ensuring that care remains trauma-informed and centered on the client’s values. Conversations about weight are never framed around appearance or BMI, and are always approached within a HAES® framework.

Jaclyn also prioritizes accessibility beyond body size. She offers gender-affirming care, neurodivergent-friendly tools, and welcomes accommodations like screen sharing, session structure requests, and closed captioning. Clients are encouraged to communicate any additional needs so care can be responsive and inclusive.
