My Philosophy of Care
My philosophy of care is grounded in Health at Every Size® (HAES®), trauma-informed practices, and a deep respect for body diversity. I approach my work with warmth, curiosity, and collaboration, helping my clients explore their relationships with food, movement, and body image without judgment. As a Registered Dietitian specializing in eating disorders, I support clients in challenging diet culture while reconnecting with their body’s cues and rebuilding self-trust. Practicing from a HAES® perspective, I reject weight-centric approaches and instead focus on individualized, sustainable behaviors that support whole-person well-being. I work with a wide range of clients, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals, and am committed to creating an inclusive and affirming environment where all bodies (and minds!) are valued and heard.
About Me & My Practice
My path into nutrition counseling was shaped by a desire to challenge the harm I witnessed in weight-centric healthcare and to offer care that affirms all bodies - especially those most marginalized. My background in multiple levels of eating disorder care has given me extensive experience in supporting individuals of all body types in reclaiming their relationship with food, movement, and self-trust. My work is informed by continued learning surrounding fat liberation, trauma-informed nutrition counseling, and the lived experiences of those impacted by systemic oppression. This allows me to actively aid others in dismantling internalized and institutional anti-fat bias.
Outside of my work, I find joy in neighborhood walks with my partner, exploring local coffee and thrift shops, and finding new crafts (currently it's pottery and needle felting!). I share my home (and frequent Zoom screen) with my cat Buki, who’s known to make the occasional cameo during our sessions.
Accessibility Considerations
I provide in-person and virtual nutrition counseling through Nutrition Counseling Center (NCC), a practice committed to inclusive, weight-neutral care. Virtual sessions allow my clients to access support from a space that feels comfortable and accessible to them. For those seeking in-person services, NCC offers fat-inclusive options such as armless seating and appropriately sized equipment when applicable.
While NCC generally avoids weight-based goals, weigh-ins may be clinically indicated depending on acuity, particularly in higher-risk eating disorder cases. Conversations about weight are never framed around appearance or BMI, and are always approached within a HAES® framework.
I also prioritize accessibility beyond body size. I support gender-affirming care, offer neurodivergent-friendly tools, and encourage clients to share any additional needs so care can feel supportive and individualized.
