My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is deeply rooted in compassion, curiosity, and the belief that people deserve to feel at home in their bodies without having to change them first. My own experiences with body image, food, and the pressure to look a certain way have shaped how I understand the shame and exhaustion that can come from constantly feeling like your body is something to fix. Those experiences are part of what drew me to eating-disorder and body-image work. I approach therapy collaboratively, taking the time to understand each person beyond their symptoms, weight, diagnosis, or behaviors. Being a Health at Every Size® provider means to me creating a space where clients are not judged by their bodies or expected to pursue weight loss in order to receive care. I believe health is multidimensional and that healthcare should support a person's quality of life, autonomy, and well-being rather than reinforce shame or weight stigma. I draw from ACT, DBT, CBT, schema, acceptance-based, and strengths-based approaches to help clients work through internalized beliefs, difficult emotions, body image concerns, disordered eating, relationships, and major life transitions. My goal is not to help clients become a different person, but to help them feel more connected to themselves and build a life that feels meaningful to them.

About Me & My Practice

I came to this work through my own experiences and through seeing how deeply our relationship with our bodies can affect every part of our lives. Over time, I became especially passionate about eating disorders, body image, and the ways that diet culture and weight stigma can shape how people see themselves and seek healthcare. In my practice, I work with individuals and couples navigating disordered eating, body image, anxiety, self-esteem, grief, relationships, life transitions, weight changes, bariatric surgery, cosmetic procedures, and shifts in identity. I especially value working with clients who have felt misunderstood, judged, or dismissed because of their bodies. My work continues to be shaped by learning from the people I have the privilege of working with and by intentionally seeking out education around eating disorders, weight-inclusive care, and the experiences of people in larger bodies. I care deeply about advocating for clients who have experienced medical fatphobia and helping them feel empowered to make decisions about their own bodies and healthcare. Outside of work, I am someone who values connection, relationships, and the little things that make life feel full. I try to bring that same perspective into therapy: our bodies are only one part of our stories, and there is so much more to a person than how they look.

Accessibility Considerations

My practice is intentionally weight-inclusive and aims to create a space where clients of all body sizes feel respected and welcome. I do not use weight as a measure of a person's worth or as an automatic indicator of health, and I do not believe clients should have to justify their bodies in order to receive compassionate care. In therapy, I work collaboratively with clients around their individual needs and preferences, including accommodations that help them feel physically and emotionally comfortable. I also encourage clients to communicate accessibility needs with me so that we can discuss accommodations in advance rather than expecting them to navigate barriers on their own.
