My Philosophy of Care

As a fat-positive dietitian and certified intuitive eating counselor, I feel passionately about helping people improve their relationship with food. I am a champion for pleasurable, satisfying food and I believe that you deserve to eat free from guilt and shame. I feel strongly that healthy behaviors aren't restrictive, and I believe respectful, weight-inclusive care for all bodies is essential. I recognize that access to adequate food and respectful healthcare are essential human rights, and I acknowledge the harm that a lack of access causes. My goal is to help people reconnect to the needs of their body through self-compassion, curiosity, and the practice of nonjudgmental exploration. We will work to help you build trust in your body and heal your relationship with food through increased awareness, and experience. My intention is to honor lived experience, and hold space for the harm our medical system has caused. I believe it is essential to practice inclusive care. I hope to create and provide a space that feels as welcoming and as safe as possible for all.

About Me & My Practice

When I began working as a dietitian, I started listening to people and their experiences with food and body. It became clear that our traditional, weight centric healthcare system is incredibly problematic and harmful. I couldn't unsee the ways in which our approach to nutrition and weight is iatrogenic. I hold multiple privileges, and I strongly believe in the importance of learning from those with lived experience. While continuing education and supervision has been invaluable, I am forever indebted to my vulnerable clients, and their candidness in sharing their stories. Traditional nutrition encourages orthorexia and fatphobia - unlearning this has been critical, and I now believe a HAES approach is the only ethical way to be a dietitian. Outside of work, I am a parent and a partner. I enjoy spending time outside, and grew up with a deep appreciation for our planet. A great pleasure - although rare - is a slow, leisurely breakfast with a good book or show.

Accessibility Considerations

My practice is virtual and I am a sole practitioner. I intend to provide gender affirming services, inclusive of size, race and sexuality. When working with clients, I often offer to coordinate care with other providers who are not trained under the HAES model.
