My Philosophy of Care

For me, care begins with trust - trusting your body, your experience, and your capacity to take one step at a time. When someone is newly diagnosed with diabetes, I know how easy it is to feel like your whole life has been flipped upside down. My role is to bring calm to the chaos, help you sort through what actually matters, and support you in finding strategies that are realistic, sustainable, and free from shame.

I work with patients as partners. You bring your lived experience, I bring my knowledge and tools, and together we figure out what feels doable in the day-to-day. This might look like experimenting with food choices, sleep, stress, or movement in ways that support your health without sacrificing your relationship with your body or joy in living.

As a Health at Every Size® provider, I reject weight as a measure of success and instead focus on dignity, behaviours, and care that honours your whole self.

About Me & My Practice

I’ve been practicing naturopathic medicine for over 20 years, and for most of that time I’ve been side-eyeing diet culture and the harm it causes. Early in my career I thought I was supposed to “look the part” as a naturopath, which sent me searching for the perfect diet. Instead, I stumbled across the non-diet approach and, eventually, intuitive eating and Health at Every Size®. That discovery changed my life and my practice - I’ve been practicing from a HAES® lens since 2010 and became certified in intuitive eating in 2018.

Much of my work now is with people navigating blood sugar concerns, especially those newly diagnosed with diabetes who are tired of being told “just lose weight.” I love helping people cut through the noise, find strategies that work in their actual lives, and protect their relationship with food and body in the process. I advocate for fat folks by naming weight stigma in health care, creating a safe space for people who’ve been dismissed or shamed, and pushing back against the idea that health can be measured on a scale.

Outside of work, I’m a mom, wife, and tennis enthusiast who can usually be found cooking, skiing, kayaking, or hanging out with my dog, Moose. Life is messy and beautiful - and I try to bring that same mix of realness and compassion into every patient interaction.

Accessibility Considerations

My office is wheelchair accessible with ramps and nearby parking close to the entrance. Bathrooms are also accessible and located near the office space. The walk from the main entrance to my office is on the longer side, which some patients may want to know in advance.

Inside the office, I have a couch instead of individual chairs, which some people find comfortable and others may find a little low. I also have gowns and blood pressure cuffs available up to 5XL.

If you have specific accessibility needs, please feel free to reach out before your visit so I can do my best to support you.
