My Philosophy of Care
With clients my approach is to be authentic and connected in the counseling room. I believe that what is brought into the therapy room is as important as the relationship between client and therapist. My approach to health is holistic, I want to get curious about all areas of wellness and how things feel for individuals within the systems we live and exist in.
I like examining how the core attachment wounds we may have sustained earlier in life continue to play out with new relationships. This includes the attachment we have with ourselves and the relationship we have fostered with ourselves. I use parts work to help clients identify the different parts of themselves that might have served a necessary purpose at one point but now are hindering growth.
Being a HAES® provider means that I will provide care regardless of body size, work towards fat liberation with clients who are interested, work towards body neutrality, respect, and trust with clients, and show up compassionately. This work is important to me because it was the first step in my own liberation within my fat body. Being able to see that I deserve to receive proper care, regardless of the way I look, helped me see my own inherent worth. This revolutionary idea is something I work to extend to all my clients.

About Me & My Practice
I have lived in a fat body for my entire adult life and the experiences of discrimination and lack of care solidified my belief that we as humans deserve better care. I learned about Health at Every Size® and felt like this was a clear way of improving the systems that myself and many of my loved ones live in.
Beyond my experiences of being in a fat body, I also spent 3 years as a milieu therapist at an eating disorder clinic learning about how best to give care to those in fat bodies. This also showed me how mental health was discriminatory to those in larger bodies. I took a number of training sessions about fatphobia in mental health settings, advocated in my own work place, and explored through fat liberation groups and literature what the personal aspects of HAES® could look like for me.
I live in a mid-fat body which has afforded me privileges that do not exist for those in larger size fat bodies. My work within the frame of advocacy goes beyond my individual therapeutic practice and includes my own life. Choosing to use my size privilege to challenge fatphobia I see in the world creates a better world for me and others.
I am an avid reader, crafter, artist, have a dear community of loved ones, and am obsessed with gardening and plants. I recently started taking up baking which has brought in new joys.

Accessibility Considerations
I am currently an exclusively telehealth therapist. This means that you get to attend therapy from the comfort of your own home. In the future my goal is to have a location that has comfy furniture that can fit a variety of bodies and is filled with warmth. I also have a solo practice so it is only me you will be interacting with.
I will also practice with affirmation and liberation in mind. This can be a place to explore yourself, including gender, in a framework of empathy and acceptance. I will use the pronouns and name you most identify with and explore what joy self discovery can bring.
