My Philosophy of Care

I work from a patient-centered approach. This means that I see each client as an individual and try to build my work to reflect their unique needs and experiences. This also means that I encourage my clients to explore what health means to them and how they want it to show up in our work. A lot of this process includes unlearning some of the harmful ideas that white supremacy and diet culture upholds around health. As a Health at Every Size® and fat liberation provider, I work with many fat clients that want to explore ways to feel good and find joy in their bodies and discuss health without focusing on beauty ideals or changing their bodies.

About Me & My Practice

I learned about Health at Every Size® through the process of healing my own relationship with my body in 2013. It was my own eating disorder recovery that sparked a career change and brought me to the field of nutrition. Although I had the privilege of learning from a variety of leaders in our field, my lived experience as a superfat individual is what fuels my passion for this work. Outside of my sessions with nutrition clients, I try to advocate for the fat community by presenting to healthcare providers and training programs about the harmful effects of anti-fat bias. As a fat provider, this work is deeply personal for me and shows up in many areas of my life. Living my best fat life includes prioritizing self-care and joy. I love spending time at the beach, pool, or spa with my friends. I also enjoy relaxing evenings at home with my cats and partner. My other hobbies include traveling, reading, taking care of my houseplants, and trying out new coffee shops.
