My Philosophy of Care

I use evidence-based practices that empower clients to navigate their challenges compassionately and effectively. Learning new coping skills and engaging in deeper healing allows them to find some freedom from the old patterns and stigma in which they have been stuck.

I practice from the HAES® perspective because I have had a variety of eating disorders, and my body has varied greatly in size over my lifetime. The only way for me to leave behind the pain of the disorders was to reject diet culture, learn self-compassion and come to a place of acceptance and care for my body.

I have no agenda for my clients, other than helping them achieve their goals for our work together. I am interested in who they are and how I can help them to feel freer and step into living the lives they want, rather than staying stuck as a result of the messages they have received about their bodies. I continuously challenge my own biases when they arise, and strive to make some sort of impact regarding weight stigma and oppression.

About Me & My Practice

I am a Registered Professional Counsellor, Master Practitioner of Clinical Counselling, Life Coach, Registered Holistic Nutritionist, reiki master, writer, educator, facilitator, mindful eater, lover of animals, food, fun, freedom and joy.

Throughout my life I have dealt with many challenges, including trauma, loss, grief, an eating disorder, chronic pain and illness, marriage, divorce, and other challenges common to many of us. I have dedicated much of my life to the pursuit of healing and searching for ways to live a happy and rewarding life. During my own healing journey, I became aware of the importance of recognizing what in my past was holding me back from fully living my life, and then letting go of what was no longer serving me. Self-discovery and healing are continuous processes; ones that can be difficult at times, but that are ultimately tremendously rewarding.

My diverse personal experience and education have given me a unique understanding of the importance of treating the whole person. My practice is based on the belief that whether we are seeking a boost to reach optimal health and mental/emotional wellness, or whether we wish to reduce suffering so that we can live happy and purposeful lives, we need to look after our bodies, minds, and spirits. By neglecting one element, we may miss an important piece of what is needed to reach our goals. I am passionate about helping people discover what they need in order to thrive.
