My Philosophy of Care

More Spoons Nutrition is a neurodivergent-owned, neuro-affirming, and LGBTQ+ inclusive practice specializing in integrative and functional nutrition. We provide compassionate, personalized support for neurodivergent individuals of all ages—adults, children, and families—through evidence-based, trauma-informed, and weight-inclusive care. Our work centers clients with complex medical conditions, energy-limiting disabilities, and marginalized identities. We aim to help people access nourishment in ways that are aligned with their lived experience, access needs, and autonomy — not weight goals or ableist assumptions.

About Me & My Practice

Mel (they/she) is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), licensed since 2012, with over a decade of experience in community health, integrative primary care, and neurodivergent-affirming care. They’ve practiced from a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) lens from the start, shaped by fat activists and disabled friends who challenged medical fatphobia. Their clinical background includes seven years in an FQHC and work with the Gila River Indian Community.

Mel supports clients with GI conditions, chronic fatigue, feeding differences, and disordered eating — centering care that is collaborative, consent-based, and rooted in the realities of poverty, burnout, and systemic oppression. They live in New Mexico with their spouse and two bassets, and believe all bodies are worthy of care, regardless of size, diagnosis, or “compliance.”
