My Philosophy of Care
Using a client centered approach, I work from a space of understanding my client's perspectives. I beleive that each of my clients is an expert on themselves and their own lived experiences. I come from a place of anti-diet, fat positive beliefs, and integrate Health at Every Size® in my daily work. Using Feminist therapy, I support clients in recognizing and challenging harmful messages in society about food, bodies, and health that they may have heard throughout their lives.
My feminist, social justice, and body liberation training approaches to HAES® also acknowledge how body size interacts with race, gender, sexuality, class, and ability, as well as other facets of our identities.
About Me & My Practice
I am a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City with a Bachelor's degrees in Psychology (with a minor in Public Health). I received my first M.A. in Clinical Psychology (with a concentration in Sexuality, Women and Gender Studies) from Teachers College, Columbia University. I received my second M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Agnes Scott College. I have multiple graduate certificates in Human Sexuality Intensives and Studies.
Prior to working in counseling, I worked for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the public health space, and at both Barnard College and Columbia University in college health centers and sexual violence centers, providing advocacy and education to students on campus. I completed my clinical internship for my second M.A. at Kennesaw State University, working as a mental health provider for students on campus.
Accessibility Considerations
My sessions are available both virtually and in-person. I work with my clients to make sure they are able to join our virtual sessions from a private and confidential space that is comfortable and safe for them.
The office space I work from has free parking on a level surface, with a level surface leading to the entrance of the building. Therapy offices include couches/loveseats in most rooms. All of my services focus on affirming the identities of my clients and their lived experiences. I see people of all sexualities and genders, and you will not have to educate me on queer, trans, non-monogamous, or kink topics or lingo.
