My Philosophy of Care
People generally don't seek therapy because life is going smoothly. Working together we can identify and highlight your strengths to help you move through the world with less stress and struggle. Building resilience will assist you in managing shame, doubt, guilt, and trauma from your past and help you move forward. Our sessions will generally feel like a conversation with a trusted individual as we navigate stressors and old narratives that are currently affecting you.
I first became acquainted with the HAES framework several years ago in searching for providers for my own healthcare and it was like a switch flipped in my brain: yes, the numbers are not helping anything! How do you feel? What do you need? What are your goals? What are your experiences? None of those things are based in a number.
Much of my HAES influenced work includes supporting people in self-advocacy with medical professionals, identifying influences of diet culture and shame, and encouraging people to find joy in food and movement. As many people have encountered significant sigma and harm from diet culture which have affected their relationship with food, I do refer out to an intuitive dietitian to support their healing.
About Me & My Practice
I've been in practice now for almost 10 years and have experience working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, overthinking/intellectualizing, trauma, boundary setting, people pleasing, disentangling from diet culture, reproductive health (Infertility, IVF, abortion, TFMR, PCOS, endometriosis, childlessness not by choice, etc.), among many other issues. I offer EMDR therapy as well.
Outside of work I am a reader, hiker and avid crafter. I live with my spouse and our cat who has a reputation amongst my clients for appearing out of nowhere and jumping in front of my camera during sessions despite my efforts at prevention.
Accessibility Considerations
As I operate via telehealth, clients are able to engage in therapy from a safe place of their choosing and comfort. If there are questions or concerns about choosing appropriate locations, this is a great topic to discuss in therapy.
