My Philosophy of Care
I am an anti-diet therapist and therapeutic coach specializing in trauma, disordered eating, IPV, anxiety, and grief and loss. My work is firmly grounded in fat liberation, intersectional feminism, anti-oppression frameworks, self-compassion and existential thought. I am a certified in Body Trust® and nonprofit leadership, and have extensive training in HAES®, Intuitive Eating, IFS, ACT, MI, and mindfulness practices. I help people who want to heal and live a more purposeful life, but feel like they’re stuck in the same patterns. My work helps you find your way toward a deeper sense of meaning, self-compassion, and a tangible vision of the future.
I am currently accepting new clients for individual therapy (RI) and therapeutic coaching (worldwide) via virtual sessions; equity pricing is available. I also offer a DEI workshop titled Taking Up Space in the Workplace, which addresses the broad and harmful impacts of diet culture, the ways in which anti-fat bias negatively impacts not only large-bodied individuals in the workforce, but also the companies that employ us, and what we can do about it, both as individuals and as a community interested in advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for everyone. And I have a soon-to-be-released podcast called Mama & Me: Two Voices, One Story, which is an unfiltered, inter-generational conversation between a therapist and her daughter that tackles diverse and sensitive topics.

About Me & My Practice
I am a 40ish fat, white, Hispanic, neurosensitive cis-woman. I grew up in a working-class home and neighborhood in RI and have a younger brother. I am a third-generation American- my relatives immigrated primarily from Portugal. My parents and grandparents worked in factories, where I witnessed many labor strikes and organized protests and experienced chronic financial hardship. My parents divorced when I was in college and both my dad and my best friend died from cancer in 2021.
My body story holds lines of addiction, trauma, and mental illness through generations, PCOS, sensory processing sensitivity, anxiety, body struggles and disordered eating, a traumatic birth experience, grief and loss, and weight-biased medical care and workplaces. I knew early-on that I wanted to be a helper and have been practicing in the therapy, child welfare, and nonprofit leadership fields for over 20 years. I have been married to my husband Alex for 15 years and we have two school-aged daughters, two dogs, a cat, two guinea pigs, and lots of parrots and farm animals who roam the land around our home. We moved to the Sacred Valley of Peru in 2023 and I am trying my best to become fluent in Spanish.

Accessibility Considerations
I offer only virtual sessions, so access to a stable internet connection and relative familiarity and comfort with technology is required. Clients also need to guarantee their own private space in which to conduct sessions.
