My Philosophy of Care
Shame can significantly harm both physical and mental health. It often leads to chronic stress, which elevates cortisol levels and contributes to issues like heart disease, weakened immunity, and digestive problems. Mentally, shame fuels anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, often causing isolation. It can also drive harmful coping behaviors, such as substance abuse, and deter individuals from seeking help, further worsening overall well-being.
About Me & My Practice
I am an internal medicine physician with specialized expertise in Hypertension and Kidney Disease. I am deeply committed to partnering with Patients, helping them take charge of their health with clarity, confidence, and personalized care. Originally I am from coastal Charleston, South Carolina, I earned my medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. I returned to New England to complete my training with Brown Medicine, serving at several esteemed institutions, including Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, and the Providence VA Medical Center. I began my first tenure at South County Hospital in 2014 as a nephrologist before transitioning to hospitalist medicine. I was honored as South County Hospital’s 2022 Physician of the Year. In May 2025 I transitioned to outpatient practice.
