My Philosophy of Care
I practice through a HAES®-aligned lens because the majority of weight science does not adequately control for weight bias or the harmful effects of weight stigma and uses very homogeneous populations without robust screening for eating disorders or past dieting patterns/weight cycling. There are numerous studies to support how health promoting behaviors are far more correlated with health outcomes than our weight.
When it comes to efficacy as well as ethics, body weight is a terrible target for public health intervention. There is sufficient evidence to recommend a paradigm shift from conventional weight management to a Health at Every Size® approach focusing on health behaviors such as balanced eating, enjoyable movement, hydration, adequate sleep, etc. I use compassionate Motivational Interviewing techniques, the principles of Intuitive Eating, and some CBT-based strategies to support my clients in their journey to body acceptance and peace with food.

About Me & My Practice
For a long time, it felt like the profession I had chosen had failed me as I watched my clients continue to struggle with body acceptance, weight cycling, and calorie-restricted dieting. I wanted to find a way to support my clients in nourishing their bodies without sacrificing their mental well-being and enjoyment of food. It wasn't until I discovered the principles of Intuitive Eating - a compassionate eating framework rooted in self-care - that I felt I could truly support clients in their journey to respect their bodies and make peace with food. When I'm not seeing clients, you can find me trying out new recipes, hiking with my pup, and caring for my many houseplants!
