My Philosophy of Care

My overarching goal as a therapist is to help each client find peace, acceptance, and contentment within themselves, their body, and their life. I strive to show every client compassion and to meet clients from a place of non-judgment, believing that every client is the expert on their own life. In therapy with me, the harmful effects of diet culture, anti-fat bias, and weight stigma will not be ignored. They will be named and acknowledged and at a client's own pace, processed as the trauma they often are.

I conduct therapy through the lenses of social justice and intersectional feminism, and alongside my commitment to HAES®, these principles guide my practice. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness among my treatment approaches.

I am passionate about helping various populations of folks through various challenges, including adolescents and young adults (through general challenges in that stage of life), parents of children with disabilities or developmental delays, neurodivergent women (especially those receiving later in life diagnoses), folks who identify as LGBTQ+, folks experiencing infertility, and anyone on their own personal journey of fat liberation.

About Me & My Practice

I identify as a fat (mid-fat), queer (bisexual), neurodivergent (ADHD), cisgender, Jewish woman and a parent of a child with developmental delays. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, partner, pets (two dogs and a cat), and extended family. I enjoy reading, writing, knitting, coloring, playing games (video, card, board - I'm up for all kinds!), and attending the occasional synagogue service.

As with most therapists, my experiences in my personal life have greatly contributed to who I am as a therapist. I once had a counselor say to me ‘you don’t get into this profession unless you’ve been through hard times,’ and in a moment when I felt isolated and alone, those words were incredibly meaningful and ultimately life-changing. And Health at Every Size® was, dare I might say, life-saving for me. The HAES® philosophy helped me personally find peace and healing in a way I couldn't have imagined. I’m a therapist because I have had hard moments in my life (like all humans!) and I want to use what I’ve learned through those experiences and how I’ve grown, both professionally and personally, to help others find their way through the dark experiences of life.
