My Philosophy of Care

I utilize a collaborative and client-centered approach in my work with clients. I consider how client's various identities, access to care/resources, and social determinants of health affect their experiences and overall wellbeing. I practice from a Health at Every Size® perspective because I have witnessed the ways in which weight stigma impacts my clients and has a negative impact on their health and wellbeing. I have learned through my work that weight status itself is not a health condition or "disease" and that interventions aimed at intentional weight loss are not safe or effective in the long term. I also acknowledge that the pursuit of individual health is not a moral imperative.

About Me & My Practice

I am a clinical psychologist providing outpatient individual therapy at The Emily Program, an eating disorder treatment center. I have been practicing from a Health at Every Size® lens for over 5 years. I have training and experience in treating clients at all ends of the size spectrum. I advocate for those more impacted by medical fatphobia by supporting the work of ASDAH, empowering my clients to learn about the ways they can navigate the health system (e.g. providing referrals to medical providers who operate from a Health at Every Size® framework, etc.), and providing empathy and validation about the very real barriers they face. I live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio with my husband, three young children, and one cat. In my free time I enjoy reading, watching movies, and playing board games with friends.

Accessibility Considerations

I provide telehealth services using a HIPAA-compliant Zoom platform. We contract with a service to provide interpretation services upon request.
