My Philosophy of Care

I start with an assessment to determine your individual needs. You are a person first. If I have experience treating the problems and concerns that you are looking for help with, then I would welcome the opportunity to discuss some possibilities. I am humanistic and client-centered. I have used a blend of approaches, tools, and techniques. I am certified in EMDR, and that offers me some conceptualization for a lot of issues, especially trauma. But that does not mean we have to do EMDR, and it isn't always appropriate or right for a client.

About Me & My Practice

I have been working with body image and eating disorders since 2013. Learning HAES® and Intuitive Eating has been a paradigm shift for me, and I love walking alongside those experiencing that shift as well. I have experienced some weight stigma myself, but I also have experienced some privilege as I am in a smaller fat body. Because of this, I try to keep myself open and meet the individual where they are with their lived experience. I am working on a PhD and as part of my dissertation, I have developed an interview to try to change the narrative around your body. This is ultimately to see if that improves anything in the participant's sexual satisfaction. As I write this, I am still collecting data which involves working with individual participants as they explore the narrative around their body, and it has been such a joy to be a witness to the stories and transformative journeys of the participants.

Accessibility Considerations

I offer virtual sessions and in-person. My in person sessions take place on the second floor. Handicap accessibilities include an elevator and ADA bathroom facilities. If mobility is limited for any reason, virtual sessions are HIPAA compliant and recommended for therapy services.
